In this workshop, artists of all levels will learn how to draw and paint portraits in a relaxed and expressionistic manner using coal and oil paint.
Participants are taught how to paint their face in charcoal and then paint in the Alla Prima painting style so that each day a portrait is finished. Each day begins with a demonstration of how to draw the face, focusing on anatomy and proportions, and then a painting demonstration in which participants learn how to paint a dynamic portrait with loose brushstrokes and bright colors. The participants become themselves warm up together with Elly with a series of quick sketches and then start their own pieces.
Each class ends with a (voluntary) review of the student's work, and students are invited to bring back images of their previous work so that Elly can review and give advice.
MOBILE PHONES AND PHOTOGRAPHS
During the demonstration and / or painting time the mobile phones may not be used.
You can only take pictures during the breaks.
The workshop will have a wildcard spot that is free for an artist who can not afford the class. Elly and the gallery team will review the submissions and select a promising artist. You can apply for the placeholder by sending three of your artworks by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
