Going Beyond Realism

This Oil painting workshop focuses on creating realistic paintings with modern techniques, principles, and aesthetics.

The group will learn fundamental concepts and techniques that push the boundaries of realism and range from the importance of manipulating the viewer's perception to using reference material, style, and technique in such a way that the final Painting is more than the sum of its parts.

The group will also explore the relationship between realism and abstraction, and learn about the importance of both in creating Interesting and engaging paintings. During the workshop, Alpay Efe will paint with the group, demonstrate and help in creating finished pieces of art.

Participants are also encouraged to come with questions and to bring sketches, sketchbooks and finished works of art for individual critique.

Wildcard

The workshop will have a wildcard spot that is free for an artist who can not afford the class. Alpay and the gallery team will review the submissions and select a promising artist. You can apply for the placeholder by emailing three of your artworks at workshops@benjamin-eck.com.
