Moritz Thoma works with concrete, lime cement, and plaster — materials that do not smooth, but retain time.
Their surfaces reveal deposits, cracks, compressions. Layers accumulate, overlap, and re-emerge. Nothing remains stable.
 
Fragmented bodies enter these structures. Without faces, without fixed identity. Not individual figures, but something more fundamental.
The bodies do not detach from the material. They remain embedded within it. Skin and surface begin to converge. What becomes visible in the material continues in the body.
 
Traces accumulate. Visible or concealed. Experiences that persist without being fully legible.
 
The works do not present a finished state. They remain.
like the material, like the human.
