Hanna Nitsch was born in Freiburg in 1974 and grew up in a small village and a large family in the middle oft he Black Forest. Since she can think she has drawn. She first studied philosophy and German literature and finally art with Peter Dreher and the swiss artist Silvia Bächli in Karlsruhe. In 2000 she moved to the Braunschweig University of Art and Design. In 2003 she is admitted to the gifted education oft he Cusanuswerk and ends her studies in 2007 with the Master Students Award. Since then she has shown her work in numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroard, including the Kunsthalle Emden, Museum Wiesbaden, Museum Schloss Bad Arolsen, Kunstverein Diepenheim (NL), Städtische Galerie Wolfsburg, Kunsthalle Pécs (HU). Hanna Nitsch lives with her husband and three children in Braunschweig.

Since her very first great inc drawings in 2007, Hanna Nitsch has been dealing with role models, fragmented identities and their bodily perception. Her work, as multi-media as ist is, is always a very personal confrontation with the question of the right to exist and the possibility of being both many and yet one. Who am I? And who are the others?

From the very beginning, she placed herself and her three children at the center of her artistic investigations. Her name is associated with the exceptionally haunting inc drawings by Cäcilia, Aaron and Elisabeth. This is how rarely an artist has dealt with her children in a visual way. It is and remains a drawn long-term psychogram with an open end.

In her quality, Hanna Nitsch creates spectacular art works that question her own (artistic) existence as well as the fragile human life in general.
