The works of Volker Behrend Peters consistently refuse any concrete subject. Instead, their depth effect is in the foreground, which is not created classically by gradations of color, but by the layering of color into plastic structures. Only through the movement in front of the screen, in the changing light, does the spatiality, the plasticity of the works, appear; as a result of shadows and light, tectonic reliefs appear that look like reef landscapes and make the works seem almost alive.
